External Competitions

Format of Team Knock-out and League competitions


The following are external team competitions that Horsell Bowling Club usually enter.
Any playing member can indicate their availability for these team competitions.
Check the website for the dress code of the competition if selected.


Team Competitions played in Knock-out format


Bowls Surrey - Area 4 Top Four (Men's)

This is a knockout competition of one rink.


Bowls Surrey - Ladies Top Four (Ladies)
This is a knockout competition of one rink played over 18 ends.
You can change your team players as many times as you wish.
You can only play one County badged player at a time. 


Heathfield Association - Heathfield Cup (Ladies & Men's)
This is a knockout competition of two rinks per team.
Played one rink home and one rink away simultaneously.


West Surrey BA - Harry Mills Memorial Triples (Men's)
This is a knockout competition of two triples per team.
Played one triple home and one triple away on the same date.


Top Ten Trophy (Mixed)
This is a knockout competition to be played usually during late July onward.
Each team consists of one rink, one triple, one pair and one single.
The rink and single are played at the challengers venue.
Triples and pairs are played at the opponents venue on the same date.
Each team has to contain at least one player of the opposite sex.


Bowls England - Top Club Team (Ladies & Men's)
Each team consists of one rink, one triple, one pair and one single.
All are played usually at the challengers venue on the same date.


Bowls England - The Tony Allcock Trophy (Mixed)
This is a knockout competition for club members
who have attained their 60th birthday on the 1st April in the year of the competition.
Each team consists of 2 rinks of four: two bowls each player over 18 ends.
Each rink to contain two men and two ladies.

The winner is the team with the highest aggregate score.


Team Competitions played in League format

Knaphill Sapphire League (Ladies)
This is a league consisting of three triples per team played on a Saturday.
Played at the same venue and time as the West Surrey Saturday Men's League according to the draw. 

West Surrey Saturday Men's League (Men's)
This is a league consisting of three rinks per team played on a Saturday.
Played at the same venue and time as the Knaphill Sapphire League (Ladies) according to the draw.


West Surrey BA (Monday Triples) League (Ladies)
This is a league consisting of two triples per team.
Usually played on Monday evenings.


Guildford, Woking & District (Tuesday Triples) League (Men's)
This is a league consisting of two triples per team.
Players must have attained their 55th birthday by the end of April in the year of the competition.
Played at the same venue according to the draw, on Tuesday afternoons.


Surrey Advertiser Invitation Trophy League (Ladies)
This is a league consisting of one rink per team.
No more than one County badged player to take part at any one time.

Knaphill (Thursday Triples) League (Mixed)
This is a league for players aged over 55 consisting of two triples per team,
comprising either of men only, ladies only or mixed triples.
Played at the same venue according to the draw, on Thursday afternoons.

North West Surrey Mixed (Thursday) League (Mixed)
This is a league consisting of one rink per team, played on Thursday evenings.
